Just as oxygen is essential to human beings, farm equipment are also vital to farmers because they ensure the efficiency and longevity of agribusiness.

Owing to this, every farmer should inculcate the habit of maintaining and keeping their farm equipment in good shape.

Farm equipment are designed to last longer if they are properly maintained.

How can you maintain your farm equipment?

If you are using simple farm tools like cutlass and hoes, ensure that you sharpen them before use.

When they are used blunt, they would cause you to use more effort, and you might end up working hard for a meagre result.

Besides, applying extra force could cause the tools to easily break or wear out.

If you practice large-scale farming and you use farming equipment like tractors, seed planters, plough, etc., ensure that your equipment are serviced periodically for efficiency.

Another way to maintain your farm equipment is to lubricate the moving parts.

Lubrication helps your equipment to be easily-movable and easy to operate.

Before you start each farm work, check that all the parts of your equipment are well-lubricated.

Lastly, always wash and dry your tools after use.

Your tools will always come in contact with the soil and will accumulate dirt.

The best way to prevent your equipment from rusting is to wash, dry, and store them in a dry place after use.

However, if after the day’s work, you are too exhausted to wash all your tools, use a damp piece of cloth to clean them thoroughly. That would suffice.

Maintaining your farm equipment can be a hassle — one of the reasons many farmers often fall into the trap of neglecting them.

However, if you do not pay the price of maintenance, you would pay the cost of negligence.
