Have you ever heard of the term ‘Digital farming’?

What did you think it was?

There have been many ambiguous definitions so far because farming is one of the most manual things to have ever existed.

So, here is an easy definition of digital farming, or what I like to call, my definition.

Digital farming is the use of new and emerging technologies to make farming easier.

These technologies include smart farming and precision farming.

Smart farming involves making use of tech to ensure the increase in quality and quantity of farm produce.

These tech devices reduce the level of manual work done on the field and they include IoT, robotics, artificial intelligence, and drones.

If you wondered what precision farming was, it is the observation of crops using technology to improve production.

This process involves discovering what is required by crops to ensure healthy growth and maximum productivity, then providing these things.

It also means you figure out what certain crops need, and at what time these things are needed.

The use of the aforementioned technology-driven methods for farming is of great benefit to farmers, as it ensures that crops are produced at high quality, in a large quantity, and are delivered to people right on time.

With the existence of technology and its infusion into our daily lives, fewer things require manual labour and stress.

More importantly, there is now an increase in productivity in our day to day activities.

Considering how much dependent the human race is on farming, the fact that we have technological innovations that help to increase efficiency and ensure productivity is something we should be grateful for.

Do you think digital farming is the future?

I do.

Technology is the future, so I think involving technology in farming in all the ways possible, is something the future should have for us.

As time goes on, digital farming will improve a lot more, from the state it currently is, and there will be more benefits, many of which we can look forward to.
